In the Czech Republic, the Treburg Sealing Profile Business Unit and its partner Magna (Magna) create a brighter future for automotive lightweight by providing new lightweight valve cover seals. Treburg provides services beyond the extrusion molding of seals.

This new valve cover seal has been applied to Magna's bumper device, and is installed on 100000 cars produced annually in a joint venture between Toyota, Peugeot, and Citroen in the Czech Republic.

Treburg has had a series of collaborations with global automotive component manufacturer Magna, a leading first tier supplier in Europe, in the field of sealing profiles, which is the latest collaboration. In the Czech Republic, Treburg and Magna have been partners for over 10 years, jointly committed to providing a series of sealing solutions for car manufacturers such as Skoda, Volkswagen, Audi, Citroen, and Toyota, including bumpers, rubber sleeves, dashboard sealing gaskets, and mudguards.

Design of a new type of weight reducing valve cover seal

Otakar Va, Regional Manager of Sealing Profile in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Treburg š á k represents: The lightweight valve cover seal produced by Treburg in collaboration with Magna is a completely new design. In the past, valve cover seals typically had a metal insert that was clamped together with the metal edge of the body. This new sealing design eliminates metal and replaces it with plastic pins that can be inserted into pre drilled holes in the body. Due to the lack of edges, the body is flat and easy to manufacture, but this design has The biggest advantage of coming is that the weight of the seal has been reduced by half. Recycling is also easier. This solution helps customers reduce the overall weight of their cars, fuel consumption, and carbon dioxide emissions

The valve cover seal was pre designed by the car manufacturer, but in collaboration with Magna, it was adjusted to allow Treburg to perform additional automated processing by inserting plastic pins into the seal.

For Treburg, this is a brand new attempt, and we have customized a dedicated machine for the project to perform the automatic pin insertion process š á k continued.

At the V ä rnamo factory in Sweden, the valve cover seal is extruded, vulcanized, and pre cut to a certain length. Then it is transported to the Treburg sealing profile factory located in Sk ó zow, Poland, and drilled on a customized machine. The plastic pins are automatically inserted into the process controlled by the camera, and the gasket ends are angled to complete the final length and shape. Deliver the valve cover seal to Magna and perform final assembly in its bumper assembly before delivering to Czech OEM customers.

Outside of core business

The core business of the Teriburg Sealing Profile Business Unit is to provide extruded sealing products, but now we are adding bricks and tiles, automated operational processes, and new features to produce value-added final products that customers can assemble into larger systems š á k said.

This indicates that we are not only a bulk supplier of sealing gaskets, but also capable of performing other automated operations, and we have passed ISO/TS 16949 certification, which is considered a high standard that automotive suppliers should meet

Based on our experience in this collaboration, we are able to collaborate with external machine suppliers to produce customized machines and add automated operational processes to special quota projects. This brings new possibilities for the future, and we are very excited š á k said.

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions has been looking for a robot that suits their production needs, but they have been searching for the market for many years without success. The emergence of Universal Robots (UR) robots has made them realize that this is the solution they are looking for. Previously, Trelleborg was able to produce millions of products annually and had never used robots in its production process. But after the introduction of UR robots, the company has made a significant improvement, with a rapid increase in production. In two and a half years, the Trelleborg factory has installed 35 UR5 robots and 4 UR10 robots.

After risk assessment, 80% of UR robots worldwide have been put into use on production lines without safety fences. All 42 UR robots from Trelleborg Sealing Solutions do not use safety fences. Many CNC machine tools for processing seals can now work independently for about an hour, or even longer, without supervision. As long as there are production components on the rack, manual supervision is not necessary.

Most UR arm robots are equipped with fixtures produced by German company Xiongke. All UR robots are distributed and integrated through their distributor KJV A/S and integrator CNC. dk in Denmark.
