The LNT A-BOX cargo sealing system and LNG Fuel-BOX fuel tank system used by Norwegian technology supplier LNT Marine for medium to large liquefied natural gas transport ships have been approved in principle (AiP) by Lloyd's Register of Shipping (LR) in the UK.

LNT Marine stated that the LNT A-BOX cargo sealing system used for medium to large liquefied natural gas transport ships makes the construction of liquefied natural gas transport ships simpler and more cost-effective, while the LNG Fuel BOX fuel tank system is designed to be ammonia ready.

According to previous news, the LNT A-BOX system can install self-supporting IMO A type storage tanks in insulated cargo compartments, and the design of this system is suitable for 175000 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas transport ships.

Kjetil S. Strand, CEO of LNT Marine, said, "As this solution enables more shipyards to build liquefied natural gas transport ships, we are now able to provide more design, competition, and flexibility to the industry in the liquefied natural gas shipbuilding field, which is in the interests of the entire liquefied natural gas industry

In June of this year, the LNT A-BOX cargo sealing system designed by LNT Marine and Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI) has been awarded AiP by the American Bureau of Shipping.
