Sealing materials can be divided into fixed sealing materials and unshaped sealing materials.
1. Unshaped sealing material
Plastic sealing paste, mainly made of coal tar and modified asphalt, has a certain degree of durability and elastoplasticity, is cheap and affordable, but lacks a certain degree of extensibility and elasticity.
Elastoplastic sealing paste is mainly made of various plastic ointments and polyvinyl adhesive. Compared to plastic sealing paste, it has strong extensibility and adhesion, but its elasticity is still weak.
Elastic sealing paste is made of materials such as polysulfide rubber, silicone rubber, chloroprene rubber, polyurethane, and acrylic naphthalene, which are durable and long-lasting.
2. Shaped sealing materials refer to the cross-sectional shapes of sealing materials made into pads, strips, and strips according to different engineering requirements. It can be used specifically to deal with cracks in underground structures and buildings, in order to achieve waterproofing and sealing purposes. The common types of sealing materials are mainly sealing gaskets and waterstops.
