At present, electric vehicles are rapidly becoming popular, especially in China, and it is expected that by 2030, electric vehicles will account for 40% of the total number of vehicles. The engineers of the Treburg sealing system have designed a new type of HiSpin ® Seals, a new type of high-speed rotating seal, aim to improve the efficiency of the next generation of electric shafts.

Although this depends on the existence of feasible technologies that can increase the battery's range by charging once. Improving the efficiency of electric shaft technology is an area that we need to focus on.

Sealing Technology for Electric Shafts

Electric shaft is an important technology in electric vehicles, which connects the motor and gearbox in a single device and puts forward various requirements for sealing:

Conflict conditions within the electric shaft: The connection between the motor and gearbox in a shared housing requires a highly reliable sealing solution, as the gearbox requires sufficient lubrication during operation and the motor must be kept dry.

Extreme speed: The current speed of electric transmissions is 15000 to 16000 revolutions per minute (4 to 8 times faster than gasoline engines), and this speed may double in the future.

Limited use of lubricating oil: With little or no lubricating oil, seals can be affected by high friction and may experience stickiness, which may lead to wear of seals and shorten their service life, ultimately reducing their range.

Compatibility of sealing materials: Various lubricants are used in electric drive systems; The sealing material must be compatible with the medium involved and operate effectively.

New rotary seals developed for electric vehicles

The product development engineers of Treburg Sealing System have developed two new high-speed rotating seals to meet the needs of electric vehicle manufacturers. HiSpin ® PDRRT and HiSpin ® HS40 seals have taken an important step in overcoming sealing problems under extreme conditions of high rotational speeds. This new generation of sealing technology can help achieve the goal of electric vehicles having a range comparable to gasoline vehicles in one charge.
